With its scow hull, lightweight design, and generous sail area, the JPK 1050 boasts exceptional speed and rare stability.

It offers true speed in light winds and an excellent ability to plane starting at 15–17 knots of true wind.

This boat remains very livable for a racing boat, allowing for enjoyable cruising trips thanks to its spacious and bright interior.

Lifting rudders: this design choice was made to reduce drag without increasing the boat’s handicap. It eliminates the need to adjust rudder parallelism, a parameter that is complicated to optimize and can even become counterproductive. Result: a significantly improved helm feel, making the boat more responsive.

Rigging: 9/10th proportions, a single set of spreaders, and a high-modulus carbon mast. The result of careful consideration to find the best balance between sail area, overall weight in the topsail, and the need to use existing profile molds from suppliers, resulting in a responsive mast that is relatively easy to trim.

“T”-shaped keel: the best compromise to give the JPK 1050 the desired lines and perfect balance under sail.

Deck layout and deck hardware: The ergonomics follow in the footsteps of previous JPK models, which were already very well-designed. The new feature is a 6-winch configuration: the mainsail winch can be moved there if needed, but it’s primarily intended to handle the backstays and the raising of the rudders, which are “additional” features compared to previous models. The JPK 1050 also allows for testing winches with an integrated shock absorber without removing the handle (Ronstan), which have proven to be very satisfactory.
